Kennesaw Mountain Swimming got off to a hot start this past week with a 1st and 2nd place finish by the boys and girls respectfully at the Cobb Relays.
“We have a great group of freshmen this year, and a lot of our best swimmers from last year are returning,” Kennesaw Mountain coach David Reason said. “We’re deeper than last year and more talented up top.”
The Lady Mustangs finished 2nd at the Cobb Relays with a strong showing also.
Kennesaw Mountain’s 200-yard freestyle relay of Aiden Walsh, Connor Haigh, Zach Lowe and Aidan Sherlock beat Pope’s relay by a second in 1 minute, 36.87 seconds. Victories in the 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke and eight-man 200 freestyle were also key.
Kennesaw Mountain’s 200 backstroke — behind Ben McLain, Bowen Spackman, Aidan Walsh and Nick Carlin — beat North Cobb by nearly 8 seconds with a time of 1:54.15. The 200 breaststroke (Walsh, Connor Haigh, Jacob Carson, Brett Reason) won by 12 seconds over Pope, clocking in at 2:07.30.
